Why Clients Trust Us With Their Frozen Cargo Long Term
In refrigerated transport, price has never been the largest cost. The genuinely expensive outcomes are these: cargo rejected on arrival because the temperature was wrong, lost sales when a store runs out of stock, secondary spoilage from mishandled returns, and the need to retrain a new carrier's drivers on every store's receiving rules each time you switch. Added together, these hidden costs routinely exceed any difference in freight rate.
Lily Transport Company Limited has operated since 2001, serving food processing plants, frozen meat wholesalers and seafood suppliers, along with chain restaurant groups, supermarket outlets and fresh e-commerce businesses. We deliver over 80,000 items every day. That record is why most of our customers trust Lily Transport, and why you can too.
This page sets out the client types we serve, how six industry engagements actually work, and what you should evaluate when selecting any cold chain logistics provider. To review our services first, see Refrigerated Transport Services. For our operating standards, visit Our Process.

Client Types We Serve
Nine client categories, nine different distribution challenges. We adjust vehicle, timing and handover method to each.
Food Processing & Central Kitchens
Despatch is concentrated in fixed windows and punctual scheduling is critical. We assign dedicated vehicles and drivers aligned to your production schedule, delivering direct to stores or transferring into cold storage.
Frozen Meat & Protein Wholesale
High pallet volumes with no tolerance for fluctuation at -18°C. We run trunk legs with 16 or 24-tonne reefers, then distribute by zone using 5.5-tonne trucks to downstream customers and stores.
Seafood & Aquatic Suppliers
Extremely tight timing where any warming affects appearance. Overnight collection, pre-cooled compartments, priority sequencing for sensitive products and short stop times to meet morning market windows.
Chain Restaurants & Catering Groups
Many outlets, small quantities each, delivery required before opening. Picking and store-level sorting completed the previous evening, then a dawn dispatch completing multi-outlet replenishment in one trip.
Supermarkets & Retail Chains
Fixed dock windows with strict pallet formats and documentation. We provide mixed frozen and ambient delivery, arriving within the booked dock window.
Fresh E-Commerce & Online Platforms
Fragmented orders, demanding time slots and higher return rates. Best suited to an integrated package of picking, sorting, packing, delivery and returns collection.
Ice Cream & Frozen Desserts
Least tolerant of temperature swings, where slight warming ruins shape and texture. Handled with low-temperature compartments, brief door-open operations and priority delivery sequencing.
Hotels, Schools & Institutions
Back-of-house access and receiving procedures are stricter, requiring drivers familiar with the process. A monthly contract best matches this kind of stable requirement.
Trading & Import Export Wholesale
Volumes swing sharply with the season. A flexible mix of ad hoc trips plus interim storage works best, adding capacity in peak season and reducing it off-peak to control fixed costs.
Six Case Studies
The cases below are described by industry category, with no client names disclosed without consent. Each sets out the original problem, what we did, and which parts of the operation actually improved.
Case 1: Dawn Replenishment for a Chain Restaurant Group
Problem: outlets spread across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with modest volumes per outlet but a wide item range, all required before opening. Previously handled by several carriers by district, handover times were inconsistent and missed deliveries and counting disputes were frequent.
What we did: completed order picking and store-level sorting in the warehouse the previous evening, with outer cartons clearly labelled by outlet and temperature band; pre-cooled dispatch at dawn with routes sequenced by opening time from furthest to nearest; handover recorded at each outlet.
Improvement: multiple suppliers consolidated into a single point of contact, handover records unified, and counting disputes at outlets reduced noticeably, while drivers familiar with each outlet's receiving location cut waiting time.
Case 2: Trunk Plus Zone Distribution for a Frozen Meat Wholesaler
Problem: large daily volumes moving from cold store to numerous downstream customers. Using only large trucks meant narrow urban delivery points were unreachable; using only small trucks pushed trip costs too high.
What we did: 16 and 24-tonne reefers handle the trunk leg from cold store to a consolidation point, loading at a temperature-controlled dock with temperature recorded, then 5.5-tonne reefers distribute by zone to urban customers.
Improvement: large vehicles carry the volume while small vehicles cover the drops, producing a more rational trip structure, substantially fewer failed urban deliveries, and stable -18°C performance through the transfer.
Case 3: Morning Market Windows for a Seafood Supplier
Problem: aquatic products must arrive before the morning market, where an hour's delay affects both price and appearance, with many scattered delivery points.
What we did: arranged an overnight collection shift with compartment pre-cooling completed before dispatch; placed the most sensitive products earliest in the delivery sequence; minimised stop and door-open time at each point.
Improvement: arrival times settled consistently inside the client's required window, cumulative time on the vehicle fell, and freshness complaints dropped significantly.
Case 4: Mixed-Temperature Replenishment for Supermarket Outlets
Problem: a single consignment containing frozen, chilled and ambient goods, with a fixed dock window at each outlet that had to be rebooked if missed.
What we did: zoned loading by temperature band with frozen goods innermost and ambient loaded last; arrival within the booked dock window; unloading sequenced to handle frozen goods first so they go straight into storage, then ambient goods.
Improvement: one vehicle now covers three temperature bands, removing the cost of separate bookings while still complying with each outlet's dock scheduling rules.
Case 5: Order Delivery and Returns for Fresh E-Commerce
Problem: fragmented orders with customer-specified windows and a relatively high proportion of returns and exchanges, where dispatching separate trips for returns was unaffordable.
What we did: insulated packing after picking with sorting by district; time-slotted delivery scheduling; returns collected within the same trip, kept physically separate from outbound cargo inside the compartment.
Improvement: returns no longer require additional trips, lowering overall trip costs, while recording returned items and quantities on the spot reduced subsequent reconciliation disputes.
Case 6: Container Haulage, Devanning and Storage on Import
Problem: once a reefer container lands, devanning is the point in the entire cold chain where cargo exposure risk peaks, and if labour or storage positions are not ready, goods sit on the dock too long.
What we did: kept the reefer unit running at its set point throughout haulage; confirmed labour, dock and storage positions were ready before devanning began; moved goods into storage by temperature band immediately or transferred them directly onto delivery vehicles; arranged empty container return on completion.
Improvement: the interval from devanning to storage was compressed, exposure to uncontrolled conditions reduced, and the client no longer needed to coordinate a separate haulage contractor.
The full operating standards behind these methods are set out in our eight-step procedure.
Client Feedback
Extracts of client comments on working with us, presented anonymously by industry category at our clients' request.
"Frozen delivery times are consistent and fleet reporting is transparent. After years of working together they remain dependable. Temperature status and arrival times are all on record, which makes our internal reconciliation far easier."
Food Brand Client A"The 24-hour support genuinely works, and they respond quickly to last-minute dispatch. On several occasions we needed additional weekend replenishment and a vehicle was arranged the same day."
Chain Restaurant Client B"Integrating storage with distribution has removed a great deal of internal communication for us. Previously our warehouse and carrier were two separate companies who blamed each other whenever something went wrong. Now there is one point of contact."
Retail E-Commerce Client C"Having the same drivers means they know the back lane access and receiving rules at every one of our outlets. Handover is much faster and it saves our store staff effort too."
Restaurant Group Client D"They proactively review expected volumes with us before peak season and reserve vehicles, so we are not scrambling to find capacity at the last minute. That matters a great deal to us."
Frozen Meat Wholesale Client E"Returns follow a standard process with items and quantities recorded on the spot, so reconciliation afterwards is no longer guesswork."
Fresh E-Commerce Client FSix Reasons Clients Trust Us
These are the points long-term clients raise most often, and the ones hardest for a lower price to replace.
Dispatch Flexibility From an Owned Fleet
With over 60 owned vehicles, added orders, extra drop points and revised time slots can usually be absorbed internally, without exposure to third-party scheduling constraints and price volatility.
Store Knowledge Built by Regular Drivers
Which outlet needs back lane access, which dock requires a booking, which windows are off-limits: this knowledge cannot be written into a contract and only accumulates through consistent drivers.
Fully Traceable Records
100% GPS coverage combined with compartment temperature monitoring means delivery progress and temperature status are documented, giving clients an evidential basis for reconciliation and investigation.
Integrated Warehouse and Distribution
Storage, picking, sorting, packing and delivery are handled by one team, so when a problem arises accountability is clear and there is no scope for warehouse and carrier to blame each other.
Proactive Peak Season Deployment
Expected volumes are reviewed with clients before festive and peak periods and vehicles and labour reserved, so clients are never left without capacity at the moment it matters most.
Two Decades of Local Experience
Operating since 2001, we know Hong Kong's traffic patterns, receiving rules and peak season pressures, and can hold delivery performance relatively steady even at the busiest times.

Checklist for Evaluating a Refrigerated Carrier
Whether or not you ultimately choose us, this checklist is worth using to evaluate any cold chain logistics company.
| Evaluation Area | Question to Ask | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Fleet ownership | Are vehicles owned or subcontracted? Is the tonnage range complete? | Determines capacity for added orders and peak season dispatch |
| Pre-cooling practice | Is the compartment pre-cooled before dispatch, and for how long? | Insufficient pre-cooling is the most common cause of cold chain failure |
| Temperature records | Is temperature monitored and recorded during transit? | The only evidential basis available when something goes wrong |
| Position tracking | Can GPS position and delivery progress be provided? | Lets stores prepare to receive and reduces waiting |
| Time slot capability | Is 24-hour, holiday and overnight dispatch genuinely available? | Food and retail receiving windows fall outside trading hours |
| Returns process | How are returns recorded, stored and transported back? | Poorly handled returns are a hidden source of loss |
| Exception handling | How are temperature anomalies and delays reported and resolved? | Determines whether problems get solved or concealed |
Our specific practice on each of these seven points is documented step by step in Our Process, and you are welcome to compare.
